He studied art and design at Medway College of Art before honing his focus on sculpture at Chelsea Art College. A recipient of prestigious honours such as the UBS Sculpture Award and the NADFAS London Sculpture Award, Portelli is celebrated for combining traditional craftsmanship with bold, contemporary cultural themes—earning him a place among Britain’s most distinctive sculptors.
