Description

About this piece: This dollar bill with Warhol’s iconic Campbells Soup print is a rare and iconic piece of collaborative pop art, signature of both Keith Haring and Andy Warhol. Merging Haring’s kinetic linework with Warhol’s celebrity aura, all on the most ubiquitous symbol of American capitalism. It’s a tiny, powerful relic of their friendship and shared artistic vision.

Haring’s pop art emerged from the New York City graffiti subculture of the 1980s. His animated imagery has “become a widely recognized visual language”. Much of his work includes sexual allusions that turned into social activism by using the images to advocate for safe sex and AIDS awareness. Haring’s popularity grew from his spontaneous drawings in New York City subways—chalk outlines of figures, dogs, and other stylized images on blank black advertising spaces.

Created with a used one dollar note as shown in the image. Framed with highest spec AR70 artglass (non-reflective and 70% UV protection) on both sides and presented in an ornate gold frame.
