About this piece: A significant amount of digital work was undertaken by the artist, Nick Holdsworth, before the final piece was hand-painted. The original image on which this artwork is based was of such poor quality that the he ended up completely recreating the photo booth, the background, and even had to replace the boy’s face. In addition to this, the image was generally cleaned up before being pixelated and overlaid with Superman symbols to form the final mosaic. A full-colour visual was then produced to serve as a reference for the painting process. Once this was completed, the image was printed in monochrome and subsequently hand-painted using ink and an airbrush.
