Slim Aarons
Slim Aarons was one of the twentieth century’s most prolific chroniclers of high society. Over the span of six decades, he photographed some of the world’s most glamorous individuals in its most coveted locations—jetting from Beverly Hills to Capri to the French Riviera. His lens captured everyone from the Kennedy family and Humphrey Bogart to Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly.
Aarons was a master of composition, renowned for his meticulous eye for detail. Through intimate portraits and sun-drenched vistas, he documented a golden era of affluence and leisure—one that stood in stark contrast to the cultural and political upheavals of the time.
Throughout his career, Aarons took more than 750,000 photographs, of which only around 5,000 have been digitised. His work has adorned the pages of esteemed publications such as Life, Town & Country, Vanity Fair, and Harper’s Bazaar. Though he passed away in 2006, Aarons’ legacy continues to influence the realms of cinema and haute couture, inspiring designers like Paul Smith, Tom Ford, and Michael Kors to create collections echoing his timeless aesthetic.
